Downhole Oil/Water Separation
(DOWS) is a bona fide Pollution Prevention
technology that can be used to eliminate
significant quantities the #1 oilfield
waste - produced salt water. Many
of America's oilfields produce fluid
that is between 80% and 99% salt water
and 1% to 20% oil; this ratio has
a profound effect on oilfield economics.
DOWS keeps an average of 85% of a
well's salt water underground, below
vulnerable groundwater resources,
reducing operating costs and potential
liabilities. Instrumentation and reliable
operation frequently results in improved
operating characteristics and improved
