Environmental
Services
ALL provides a broad array
of environmental and engineering services
nationally. Our staff consists of experienced
professionals with an average experience
level of more than 15 years. Our services
include engineering design and studies,
regulatory and compliance support, various
types of site investigations, outsourcing
and privatization, pollution prevention,
environmental data management, permitting
and remediation.
Coal Bed Methane and GIS:
ALL and a co-researcher (the Montana Board
of Oil & Gas Conservation) were selected
for a contract from the Energy Department's
National Petroleum Technology Office (NPTO)
for a coal bed methane project in Montana.
The project involves development of best
management practices and integration of
GIS technology in evaluation of environmental
impact solutions and permitting issues.
Benefits from the project include continued
success of affordable coal bed methane production
in Montana and other areas throughout the
U.S., along with improved environmental
protection, better decision making, and
a framework from which other state and federal
agencies can design and implement similar
technologies.

Environmental Impact Statements
& Assessments under NEPA: Commonly,
pipeline extensions, oil & gas activities
(including coal bed methane), development
and remediation and construction activities
require EIS or EA documents to be prepared.
Our experienced staff have prepared EIS
and EA documents and categorical exclusions
for various types of facilities. We maintain
a multi-disciplined team to comprehensively
address the variety of environmental and
resources issues that must be considered
and addressed.

Pollution Prevention Surveys:
Services include conducting pollution
prevention surveys, development of pollution
prevention plans, economic evaluations of
proposed or possible alternatives, design
and development of custom information solutions
to track and/or analyze data gathered as
well as results.
Archeological, Historic
and other Cultural Resources Management
Plans, Studies, and Consultations: ALL's
Archeological Team maintains in-house expertise
and capabilities relative to a variety of
archeological and cultural resources studies.
Our staff has conducted archeological studies
to support conventional natural gas development
decisions along the Rocky Mountain front,
the western plains (including the Powder
River Basin), as well as the Gulf of Mexico.
We have constructed detailed terrain maps
as the basis for surveys of plant cover,
endangered species, wetlands, paleontological,
and archeological resources.
Under contract to the Bureau
of Land Management, ALL recently conducted
a detailed study of a proposed gas play
along the Rocky Mountain Front in the Blackleaf
Canyon area of Montana. ALL's field team
searched for evidence of the "Old North
Trail" and cultural and archeological
sites of significance in the planning area.
Although not all our projects involve field
reconnaissance in Grizzly County, our team
of professionals is well adapted and equipped
to work under a variety of field conditions.
Soil & Groundwater
Remediation: ALL staff have undertaken
remediation projects using a variety of
innovative techniques that have ranged from
bioremediation to phyto-remediation to excavation.
We are experienced at remediation design,
specification development, cost estimating,
and full-scale remediation construction.
A project that was the result
of cooperation by the Kansas Corporation
Commission, the Kansas Biological Survey,
the NRCS and ALL through a grant provided
from the U.S. Department of Energy involved
remediation of a site that was scarred by
historic oil production. From this project
a "Site-Specific Soil Remediation Planner
Website" was developed. Access to the
planner is at http://www.kcc.state.ks.us/conservation/scar/index.htm.
Underground Injection:
ALL offers complete services related
to state and federal Underground Injection
Control (UIC) programs for all well types.
ALL's experienced includes siting and feasibility
analysis; drilling and completion; testing
and maintenance; and abandonment. ALL staff
have completed large area permits for Class
II injection wells, prepared both permits
and permit modifications for Class I wells,
authored a comprehensive manual on testing
Class III salt solution mining wells for
the Solution Mining Research Institute,
and permitted and drilled both Class IV
and V type injection wells for various purposes-including
groundwater remediation projects. Additionally,
ALL has obtained both minor and major aquifer
exemptions under the UIC program, and have
experience through more than 1,000 surface
discharge permits for clients throughout
the United States.
